Bill Tien is the third generation of successful restaurateurs. Bill’s grandfather, Kien and father Nam founded and owned an exclusive fusion restaurant.

When he came to the United States at the age of 16, his love for fine cuisine drew him to the restaurant business. Since then, Bill has worked and owned multi-cultural restaurants for more than 36 years in the Baltimore area.

Bill currently owns Matsuri, A true Japanese restaurants in the historic Federal Hill. Matsuri is repeatedly voted the Best Japanese Restaurant by the Baltimore Magazine and the City Paper, and has received the highest ranking from the Baltimore Sun and the Zagat’s survey. His restaurants are frequented by the sport celebrities and the political and corporate leaders. Matsuri routinely caters to the elite of Baltimore, including area businesses, country clubs, hotels, and the Baltimore Orioles.

Bill is on the faculty to conduct sushi classes for the Baltimore International College and other organizations. He also serves on the governing boards of several civic and not-for-profit organizations.

Bill is married and has two daughters and a son.
