Leave a Lasting Legacy
Embracing the spirit of generosity, individuals from all walks of life have the remarkable opportunity to contribute to the enduring impact of Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland through planned giving.
Regardless of your financial means, you can leave a lasting legacy by making a charitable bequest, thus championing our mission to ensure the well-being and independent living of seniors while securing a sustainable future for both our organization and the individuals we passionately serve.

Common Types of Bequests
The following are some of the more common types of bequests and sample language. Be sure to carefully review the terms of your will with a professional trained in handling trusts and estates.
Here’s how it works:
General Bequests
Specify a dollar amount, a particular asset, or a fixed percentage of your estate.
General Bequest Language:
“I give, devise, and bequeath to Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland, located at 515 South Haven Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21224, the sum of $___ (or a description of the specific asset), for its general purposes.”
Residuary Bequests
Designate a portion or the remainder of your assets after other terms of the will have been satisfied.
Residuary Bequest Language:
“All the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate (or specify a portion), both real and personal, I give to Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland, located at 515 South Haven Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21224, for its general purposes.”
Contingency Bequests
Leave a portion of your estate to a particular charity if your named beneficiary does not survive you.
Contingency Bequest Language:
“I devise and bequeath the residue of the property, real and personal and wherever situated, owned by me at my death, to (name of beneficiary), if he/she survives me. If (name of beneficiary) does not survive me, I devise and bequeath my residuary estate to Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland, located at 515 South Haven Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21224, for its general purposes.”
Other Planned Giving Options
In addition to bequests, planned giving can take many other forms, including:
- Charitable Gift Annuities
- Charitable Remainder Trusts
- Life Insurance

How We Serve
We provide nutritious meals to people who are homebound and unable to shop or cook for themselves – because of age, disability or illness.
Ways to Give
Our caring staff conducts regular well-being check-ins during meal deliveries. This ensures that seniors receive the support they need to maintain their health. We’re not just a meal; we’re a lifeline to better physical and emotional health.
Volunteer
We empower seniors to maintain their independence with our “More than a meal™” service. Beyond food, we provide resources, education, and home safety assessments. Our goal is to enable seniors to live safely and comfortably in their own homes for as long as possible.
Your Legacy Matters
Your thoughtful planning today ensures that Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland can continue making a positive impact on the lives of those we serve tomorrow. Join us in leaving a lasting legacy and creating a future where no senior or disabled individual goes hungry.
