What does it take to be a Meals on Wheels volunteer?

Volunteering takes heart. Our volunteers are friendly and outgoing. Most importantly, our volunteers  have a commitment to our mission and the personal responsibility to back it up.

What kind of time commitment do I need to make?

We realize that every one has a busy schedule and we want to help you fit volunteering into your life. Most of our volunteer opportunities (i.e., meal packing and delivery) occur on weekday mornings. If you need something more flexible, consider becoming a Grocery Shopper or Outreach volunteer.

Most volunteers contribute 1-5 hours a  month. We do ask for a 6-month commitment.

Are volunteers paid?

Our volunteers are unpaid and use their own funds for some materials and gas. Money spent in support of Meals on Wheels projects, as well as miles driven while volunteering with Meals on Wheels, are tax deductible.

Is training provided?

We offer a thorough orientation to the agency and "on the job" training.
