2008 Special Events
Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland (MOWCM) organizes and participates in many special events throughout the year. Events are designed to reach a variety of audiences and augment the agency's message throughout the the state of Maryland. Specific events are coordinated in Baltimore City as well as Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford and Howard counties. The Culinary Extravaganza, our signature event, is held in late spring and is an opportunity for local chefs to showcase their creative skills and businesses to support the mission of Meals on Wheels, all while raising funds for our homebound and elderly clients.

- THURSDAY, JULY 31, 2008, 7:05 PM
"A Night at the Ballpark" to benefit Meals on Wheels of Anne Arundel County, at Prince George's Stadium, 7:05pm. Watch the Bowie Baysox take on the New Britain Rock Cats. Executive Director Tom Grazio will throw out the first pitch, and Anne Arundel County Meals on Wheels Volunteer and Board member Lois Gross will be honored for her extraordinary commitment to Meals on Wheels. - MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, 2008, 7:05 PM
Meals on Wheels of Harford County sponsors "A Night at Ripken Stadium" as the Aberdeen Ironbirds take on the Brooklyn Cyclones at 7:05pm. Come out and watch Executive Director Tom Grazio throw out the first pitch and meet Harford County Meals on Wheels staffers and volunteers who have gone "above and beyond" the call of duty. - WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2008 - 6pm
Join us for a Chef's Expressions Wine Dinner on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at Gramercy Mansion. Enjoy a delicious 6-course dinner with South African wines, learn more about the wines your are enjoying, Meals on Wheels, the Gramercy Mansion and more!
- TUESDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2008, 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM
Friends Helping Friends Day is an opportunity for Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland to raise funds by selling "shopping passes" to Boscov's Department stores. The ticket is a 25% discount shopping pass and individuals who have purchased the ticket can use it on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at all Boscov's locations. Some exclusions apply.
- FRIDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2008, 7:00 PM
Football is in the air, so join us for Purple Passion BIG BASKET Bingo on October 24, 2008 and enjoy an evening of bingo, football, food and fun! Come dressed as your favorite Ravens player OR in as much purple as you can muster to help "cheer on" the Baltimore Ravens. Plenty of wonderful Longaberger baskets and laughter --- guaranteed!
- SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2008, 9:00 AM
First Annual 5K and 1 Mile Family Fun Run/Walk to benefit Meals on Wheels of Howard County. Get those feet moving for a great cause and enjoy the beauty of Meadowbrook Park.
