2008 EVENT RECAPS
First Annual 5K & Family Fun Run
November 8
The weather may have been dreary on Saturday morning, but the Ist Annual 5K & 1 Mile Family Fun/Run Walk participants had a great time in spite of "Mother Nature!" More than 125 runners & walkers particpated in the inagural event! Bernadette Woods, WJZ TV meteorologist (see photo below - center), welcomed the participants who took on the challenging 3.2 mile course through Meadowbrook Park. February 10
Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland hosted the 1st Annual "Battle of the Blues" ice hockey game on Sunday, February 10, 2008 at the newly opened Reisterstown Sportsplex in Reistertown, MD.
The Baltimore Metro Police hockey team vs. the DC Police Hockey Foundation team joined forces to help support Meals on Wheels in this first-time event. More than 200 spectators watched the game, participated in Chuck-A-Puck and bid on sport memorabilia at the silent auction. The final score: 7-4 -- with DC Police taking the first win of this rivalry. Best of all, the teams are already making plans to even the score in 2008!

And, finally, thanks to the Baltimore Youth Hockey (BYH) Mites (pictured below) for showcasing their mites program during a five-minute exhibition. These kids can really play some hockey!
