Function and Scope:

Reports to Food Service Manager, due to working off-site and distance, is expected to work independently. Communication via telephone and/or email, as problems or concerns occur is key.

This is an entry level job, incumbents set and serve meals to senior clients. Incumbent must posses a Montgomery County Food Service Permit . Please do not apply unless you have a valid permit.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Under the direction of the Central Kitchen Manager, the Foodservice Worker is responsible for the following:
•Ensures that food is maintained at appropriate temperatures.
•Directs Kitchen volunteers.
•Works with nutrition site manager in following the policies and procedures outlined in the Nutrition Site Management Manual.
•Serves regular and/or special meals to senior clients and/or staff.
•Cleans, sterilizes and or disinfects areas and/or equipment.
•Inform supervisors when supplies are getting low or equipment is not working properly.
•Keep records of the quantities and quality of food used.
•Other tasks as assigned.
•Must be able to read, write and understand English.
•Follow instructions with minimal supervision.
•Knowledge in food portion control.
•Knowledge in sanitation and safety practices as well as food handling techniques.
•Working knowledge of HACCP guidelines.
•Distribute food using appropriate food handling and sanitation techniques.
•Apply principles, theories and practices of food safety and public health protection.
•Use cleaning agents, products and equipment properly.
•Must deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.

Qualifications:

Food Service Permit or capable of attaining within 30 days of employment
Prior experience in institutional foodservice preferred.
Neat, Clean appearance.
