Employee Recognition Program
Employee Recognition Program
June 2010
The Senior Managers at Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland have implemented a program that recognizes members of the staff for their dedicated efforts in helping the agency achieve its mission. This quarter a few stellar individuals have stood out from the crowd. These individuals were chosen for their teamwork:
Elizabeth Galea – Volunteer Services
In her 6 years with the company, we have seen Liz put on many hats. It is with this spirit of teamwork and dedication to the company that makes her so deserving of this award. During the recent turnover in Volunteer Services, Liz stepped in and practically ran the show for nearly two months. She scheduled the sites, coordinated the luncheons, and volunteered at the annual Culinary Extravaganza. Through it all, she has been gracious and good natured. She is truly an asset to the company.
Linda Jessa – BA/BC Client Services
In the 3 years Linda has been with the company, she has remained a favorite with the company’s clients and volunteers. This quarter she has proved herself to be a reliable member of her work team as well. Linda helped the Development team with the Culinary Extravaganza by taking on the time consuming task of sending out over 300 invitations. Recently, MOWCM has taken on workers from Catholic Charities. Linda was in charge of training one of the workers who had problems grasping certain duties. Linda remained professional while maintaining a positive and pleasant demeanor with the utmost patience and tact. She is greatly appreciated.
Desmon Newby – Food Services
Desmon has only been on the job 8 months, but has already been given a promotion. Since he has taken on his new position, he completes his work in record time and goes on to help his co-workers without being asked. There have also been days when he has put his own work aside to help his co-workers catch up on their work so the kitchen as a whole wouldn’t fall behind for the day. He is friendly, courteous, and always on time. He is truly a model employee.
Anthony Perez – Distribution
Anthony began with the company 6 months ago as a Substitute Van Driver during a difficult time for the Distribution department. Almost immediately, he was given the task of taking on one of the most difficult routes in the department due to the illness of another worker. He handled it professionally: always with a smile and always willing to help out beyond that of his regular job duties. He is now considered to be a part of the team and Meals on Wheels is grateful to have him onboard.
Jacqueline Rosenthal – Food Services
Jackie has been with the company for almost 10 years. During her time here, she has moved through the ranks of the Central Kitchen Facility to her current position of Assistant Kitchen Manager. She is dependable and always willing to go the extra mile. In the last two months, the kitchen has been short staffed and everyone has been feeling the pressure. Through it all, Jackie has remained positive and never leaves without ensuring everything is completed. The kitchen workers know they can rely on her with any problem or concern. Her efforts are highly appreciated.
Calvin Wilson – Distribution
In the two years Calvin has been with the company, he has proven himself to be a true team player. He is dependable and always willing to perform any assigned task to move the team forward. His communication skills and relationship with clients and co-workers are commendable. He can be relied upon to take on a new task with only a moment’s notice. He is an integral part of the distribution team, and a true testament to what teamwork is.
